Modi Begins 3-Nation Tour; Says Palestine Visit a ‘Historic’ Occasion

first_imgIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Palestine on Feb. 10 after transiting through Jordan as part of his three-nation tour to Gulf and West Asian countries that began on Feb. 9. This is a historic visit that will lead to stronger bilateral cooperation.— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) February 10, 2018During his visit to Palestine, Modi is expected to announce the setting up of a super-specialty hospital in Ramallah, the Palestinian capital, NDTV reported.“Looking forward to my discussions with President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirming our support for the Palestinian people and the development of Palestine,” Modi had said earlier while Abbas had stated that he will hold discussions to see the possible role Indian can play to restore peace in the region.“We believe in the importance of a possible Indian role to reach a final agreement based on international consensus and resolutions, in which India and other countries can be part of,” Abbas said, PTI reported.This is the first ever prime ministerial visit to Palestine from India.In Oman and United Arab Emirates, Modi will meet members of the Indian diaspora. In UAE, the Indian PM will hold talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. “At the invitation of the leadership of the UAE, I will be addressing the 6th edition of the World Government Summit in Dubai, where India is the Guest Country of Honor,” Modi said.On Feb.11, Modi will visit Dubai where he will watch the live streaming of a Hindu temple inauguration ceremony. He will also address the Indian community at the Opera House, PTI reported. India’s ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri said that Modi will attend a painting exhibition by Ramesh Shukla.He will also interact with leading CEOs in Dubai on the economic opportunities present in India and discuss how to increase business collaborations.Modi will also hold talks with the Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin said al said and other leaders.
