HURLING: GREAT DISPLAY IN BOTH MINOR A AND B FINALS

first_imgThursday last saw the culmination of the minor hurling league, we witnessed two great games with the minor A and B finals.O’ Donnell Park was the setting for the A final between Buncrana going for 3 in a row and new kids on the block Mc Cumhaills, it was an eagerly awaited final and it certainly didn’t disappoint as both teams gave it everything. Mc Cumhaills made all the running in the first half and certainly showed no sign of any nerves, a couple of points before half time by the Scarvey lads narrowed the gap at half time and left the score Mc Cumhaills 1.6 Buncrana 0.8. The second half was a real ding dong affair and there was never more than a puc of the ball between the sides, Buncrana claimed the title for the 3rd year in a row emerging winners on a 2.12 to 2.10 score line, Mc Cumhaills were very close to pulling off a major shock and they can take great heart from their performance.Scravey was the setting for the Minor B final between holders St Eunans and Carndonagh, like the A final this was another great game of hurling. Nerves seemed to get the better of the Carn lads as Eunans were in complete control in the first half and led at half time 2.7 to 0.3, but whatever went on in the Carndonagh dressing room at half time it was a completely different team that took to the field in the second half attitude wise. Gradually they pulled back the lead with their never say die attitude and with the last puc of the game they got the match winning point. This is a great achievement for a very young Carndonagh team, credit is also due to St Eunans who played their part in a great game. Final score Carndonagh 3.8 St Eunans 2.10. U 14 Div 1 final .Burt was the setting for the Div 1 U 14 final between Buncrana and holders St Eunans, goals proved the difference on the night as Buncrana reclaimed the title on a 9.2 to 3.3 score line.U 14 Div 2.In the Cross a strong Dungloe/Gaothdobhair amalgamation defeated a previously unbeaten Setanta 6.7 to 4.3 so the stage is now set for the Div 2 league semi finals which see the following pairings Setanta v Letterkenny Gaels and Aodh Ruadh v Dungloe/Gaothdobhair.HURLING: GREAT DISPLAY IN BOTH MINOR A AND B FINALS was last modified: May 21st, 2016 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img
