The unemployment rate in northeastern B.C. dropped by almost three per cent in April.The unemployment rate in the region is currently sitting at 5.4 per cent which is a 2.7 per cent drop from March 2011.With the drop in April, the unemployment rate is now on par with where we were in April of 2010. Last year the unemployment rate was at 5.5 per cent in April. In one month, over 1,000 people found work in Northeastern B.C. – Advertisement -The current rate puts our region with the lowest unemployment rate in province, with Victoria right behind us at 6.0 per cent and the Cariboo at 7.1 per cent. The Kootenay’s continue to have the highest unemployment in the Province with 10.1 per cent.The province as a whole saw a small decrease in the unemployment rate from 8.7 per cent to 8.4 per cent.
